About Us
I’m Riath, better known as the “Honey Man”—a title earned through my unwavering passion for delicious raw honey. With Yemeni roots and born in South Yorkshire, I grew up savouring the rich, golden nectar my parents brought back from their homeland. But when I searched for the same authenticity in the market, I found only disappointment.
So I set out myself — travelling to remote regions, meeting independent beekeepers around the world, and sourcing rare, unadulterated honey straight from the hives. That journey became Balqees: a commitment to authenticity, tradition, and bringing truly exceptional raw honey from source to spoon.

Frequently Asked Questions
How should I eat raw honey?
Raw honey is best enjoyed by the spoon, mixed into warm drinks, or drizzled over food like yoghurt, oats, or fruit. For best results, take it on an empty stomach in the morning or as part of your daily routine.
How often should I take honey?
For most people, 1–2 teaspoons per day is ideal. It can be taken daily as part of a balanced diet — in the morning for natural energy, or in the evening to support digestion and recovery.
Can Diabetics take honey?
Honey is still a natural sugar, so it can raise blood glucose levels. However, raw, unprocessed honey has a lower glycaemic impact than refined sugar and contains beneficial enzymes and antioxidants. If you’re diabetic, it’s best consumed in very small amounts, ideally with food, and after consulting your healthcare professional.
Does raw honey expire?
The short answer is, no, raw honey never goes off as long as it is stored correctly, which is at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Archaeologists have even found 3,000-year-old honey whilst excavating tombs in Egypt, and it was perfectly edible! Despite this, we are required by law to put a best-before date on our jars which is usually 2 years from production.
Does raw honey crystallise?
Raw honey will naturally crystallise when it reaches cold temperatures. This happens as the glucose in the honey separates from the water forming crystals. Honey is still safe to eat when it has crystallised, however to return it back to its original form, place the jar in warm water for some time until it liquefies.
